What is checked about the seller?

We check the public indicators that matter before a transaction: ANAF tax status, identity, legal representatives or authorised persons and authorised activities at ONRC, MFin financial history, BPI insolvency and cases on Portal Just and ICCJ. ANAF does not publish tax debt amounts through this service, and open ONRC data does not confirm the complete shareholder structure; the report states these limitations explicitly.

Why do you not ask for the seller's CNP?

Public searches use names and companies, not CNP — so we do not ask for or collect the seller's CNP. Individuals with common names may have namesakes; we flag these as such rather than presenting them as certain facts.

Does the check guarantee that the seller is trustworthy?

No. We show what public sources say at the time of the check, with their limitations — not a guarantee. If a source is unavailable, we write “unavailable”, not “zero cases”. The result helps you ask the right questions and request documents; it does not replace the notary's checks.

How much does the seller check cost and how do I receive it?

All reports that include a seller check are read manually by a specialist on our team. We do not use AI for legal analysis.

ANAF, ONRC, MFin, BPI, Portal Just and ICCJ: public sources consulted and supplemented with assisted checks where appropriate. Public indicators found (such as insolvency proceedings or court cases) are clearly marked in the report. You see the data and make your own decision. Verifi does not tell you whether the seller is good or bad, but shows what is public about them.

How to check a company's tax status at ANAF

ANAF has a public service for legal entities' tax status, VAT, inactivity, deregistration and RO e-Factura. The service does not show the current amount of tax debts; for this, you must request a recent tax clearance certificate from the company. Verifi does not turn the absence of this information into a favourable result.

How to find out whether the seller is insolvent

Buletinul Procedurilor de Insolvență (BPI) publishes insolvency proceedings. Verifi flags the seller or seller's company appearing in the data consulted and explains the limitations of public sources.

Can I ask for the seller's CNP

No. The CNP is protected under GDPR and Law 190/2018. Verifi does not work with the seller's CNP. Checks use the CUI (for companies) and name (for individuals).

Because individuals are searched only by name, without a unique identifier, there may be namesakes: a different person with the same name. We therefore mark the match as “by name” and ask you to confirm the identity with the notary before drawing conclusions from a negative indicator.

The seller is a company (legal entity): what else to check

For legal entities, Verifi adds ONRC identity, legal form, registered office, EUID, published legal representatives or authorised persons and authorised CAEN activities, alongside ANAF tax status and public MFin financial history. The complete shareholder structure and beneficial owners require additional ONRC documents and are not presented as confirmed from open data.
